Ruby Hill Winery
400 Vineyard Avenue, Pleasanton, CA 94566
Tel: 925.931.9463
The Ruby Hill region and surrounding Livermore Valley is an ancient river bed, consisting of a thin layer of fertile top soil, with very stony soil in underlying layers. This allows for excellent water drainage, which is optimal for grapevines. The Livermore Valley has an East-West orientation, which allows for the cool coastal Pacific breezes to both cool, and moderate the climate. This allows for warm California days, and cool nights. Compared to Napa, the Livermore Valley receives less rainfall, which allows for more control with irrigation. This gives vintners the opportunity to hold back water when the time is right which results in wine grapes with more concentration and flavor.
